Because copper is a pure hypo-allergenic metal, it is extremely reactive to high PH values. This can result in a green discoloration of the skin that, while annoying, is completely harmless. Some people will never experience this at all and some people only sometimes, as each person’s body’s PH constantly fluctuates with diet and lifestyle.
While we do not seal our copper rings because it wears off quickly, we can recommend occasionally coating the inside of the ring with clear nail polish to help combat the green discoloration.
