John had the honor of pairing up with this volunteer organization while in Germany- experiencing the comfort it brought to our soldiers on the receiving end - and we as a family got to also be a part last summer on the giving side. 100% goes to the soldiers. Johnny was a servant and a giver at heart- and very much a patriot!

Because I can’t say it really any better than my sister in law... grateful for so many of you who have lifted us up in prayer over these last 6 weeks as we walked this journey.
How to write the words...
Last night, my family gathered by my precious dad’s 801 bedside and laughed and cried and held each other close as we allowed his bod...y and spirit do what it longed to do. We said “goodbye” and “see you soon”, with hope of heaven in his future and our own.
We mourn our loss, but celebrate in the gift of dad that was given to us and shared with us for so many years. These last six weeks have been a ride, but so many moments that I call gifts in themselves. He loved and we were able to hear and say those words over and over. He loved God and heard his desire to share that love, even from his ICU bed. He loved to laugh and continued to do so as long as he was awake. He loved to teach, and he was teaching his nurses math tricks and teaching everyone who walked through his door about his friend, Jesus.
So we take those lessons- how to love, how to laugh, how to teach,... and we keep him with us. But his pain is over, his body is whole, and one day, we will see him again. There is MUCH to be thankful for. Thankful for Jesus this season that there is HOPE and LOVE that is unmatched from any other source. ❤️
